End of tourism as we know it?

The pandemic lockdown was a sudden halt to an industry that had been growing for decades. In some places the tourism industry has taken over destinations, leaving local inhabitants feeling estranged in their own cities.

Mass tourism has in some places had an adverse effect on the environment, and sometimes even destroying the very attractions people came to see.

All of this not because travellers are bad people, no it is a mix of ignorance and greed that has led us down this path – and now we must better way of doing things.

While the lockdowns have been devastating to the business and the countless people depending on it for their livelihoods, it has also been a wakeup call to change the toxic practices.

That is the topic of the new film ‘The Last Tourist’ now streaming on selected services
